UHealth cardiac surgery study finds scoring systems may overstate risk of minimally invasive aortic valve procedures

Current scoring systems used to assess the risk of mortality in minimally invasive aortic valve replacement surgery (miniAVR) may overestimate the risk of the procedure, according to a paper published by chief of cardiac surgery, Dr. Joseph Lamelas, and team in the journal Innovations: Technology and Techniques in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.
